Right now my upcoming appointments are the ultrasound next Thursday (and I can't even begin to describe how much I have been anticipating that), and then another OB appointment on March 31st. The doctor also mentioned meeting with a perinatologist to discuss delivery options which will be around 28 weeks. The way it sounds is that there are only a few doctors that will attend a breech twin delivery (if the second twin is breech...the first one has to be head down no matter what). If one of those doctors isn't there when I go in to deliver, I will have to have a c-section. Being a nurse, I am all for caution, so I completely understand this. I'd rather have a scar and a longer recovery than possibly cause harm to my baby by trying to avoid a c-section at all costs. I have seen so many bad scenarios and I can imagine that these doctors have seen so many more in their experience. Most of the time everything goes ok, but I understand not being willing to take that chance because I wouldn't want to either (as a parent or a medical professional). So, we'll see how baby A is positioned before we make any final calls, but I'm not going to be crying if they tell me I have to have a c-section. Just like I said before, as long as the babies are healthy, things like that really don't matter.
On another note, I have been feeling more and more movement! It's quite exciting and it frequently reminds me to praise God for these two babies living inside me right now. It is truly amazing and worthy of all our praise! As I said before, I ask for your continued prayers as we progress in this pregnancy...that the anatomy scan will look perfect, that the babies will stay put until it's time for them to come out, and that the pregnancy will remain uncomplicated.
Hopefully, the babies will cooperate during the ultrasound and we will be able to find out the sex(es). Scott and I really need to start registering soon for the baby showers...we already have planned for Scott's family on April 17th (We are having it early to make sure Amy can come before Anna gets here and because I want to have most everything by 30 weeks so that we have time to set up).
I will update on Thursday (or sooner)!!!
Woohoo!! I knew that baby bump was getting bigger :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad that things are continuing to go well, and praying for everything to look fine on Thursday's ultrasound.
Leah,
ReplyDeleteWow! You look great for 26 weeks:) So happy the babies are growing so well! We are continuing to pray for you all and can't wait for Thursday. And I'm glad you'll be having a shower soon...you'll need plenty of time to get everything together anyway!
Kjirsten and I told you the other night your bump was getting bigger (I don't notice much other weight gain on you to be honest). It is so exciting to feel the movement. I'm praying that everything looks excellent on the ultrasound this week and that they cooperate!!
